How to Pair a New Keytag

You must have the SEER unit registered to your account in order to pair a new Keytag.
For more information on registering a SEER device see the tutorial.


There are five main steps involved in pairing a new Keytag to SEER:

  1. Put the SEER Control Module into Pairing Mode
  2. Open the SEER Assistant app for either Android or iOS
  3. Select ‘No Account’
  4. Insert battery in the first Keytag you want to pair
  5. Select the Keytag on the app & choose ‘Pairing Mode’
    (Repeat steps 4-5 for each additional Keytag)
  6. Exit Control Module from Pairing Mode
  7. Verify Keytag Pairing Information

1 – Put the SEER Control Module into Pairing Mode

  • Turn Ignition On
  • Within 2 Seconds, start pressing the programming button
  • Press the button 7 times rapidly. Each time you will hear the unit beep
    (Older units will not beep and use a confirmation LED)
  • A long beep will sound to confirm SEER has entered Pairing Mode

2 – Open the SEER Assistant app for Android or iOS

3 – Select ‘No Account

Once you select No Account the application will request the use of Location Services which must be on.

4 – Insert battery in the first Keytag you want to pair

5 – Select the Keytag you want to pair on the app

When Battery is first inserted, Keytag will appear in the device list (No Account)

  • Select the Keytag from the Devices list
  • Press “Pairing Mode”
    (Keytag will switch to pairing mode and the Control Module will acquire the tags information)
  • App will display “Pairing mode succeeded”
    • The message above is only to verify that the Keytag went into pairing mode successfully.
  • Buzzer inside Control Module will “Beep” when Keytag is paired.
  • The Keytag device will disappear from the list, then reappear.
  • To verify pairing, you can go to “Signal Tool” and verify it says “Pairing Status: Success”
  • Select the device again and press “End Session” to complete Keytag pairing.
  • Connect to the Control Module and verify Tag pairing. (See Step 7)

To pair multiple tags: Keep the Control Module in Pairing Mode and repeat steps 4-5

6 – Exit the Control Module from Pairing Mode

  • End Session on all Keytags and wait 2 Minutes
  • Turn Ignition On
  • Within 2 Seconds, start pressing the programming button
  • Press the button 7 times rapidly. Each time you will hear the unit beep
    (Older units will not beep and use a confirmation LED)
  • A long beep will sound to confirm SEER has exited Pairing Mode

7 – Verify Keytag Pairing Information

  • Turn Ignition On
  • Within 2 Seconds, start pressing the programming button
  • Press the button 3 times rapidly. Each time you will hear the unit beep
    (Older units will not beep and use a confirmation LED)
  • A long beep will sound to confirm SEER has entered Pairing Mode
  • Enter your credentials and press Sign In
  • Select Control Module ECU from the Devices list
  • Select ‘Signal Tool’

Paired Keytags will appear on the Signal Tool page.
(If you do not see all Tags in this list repeat the pairing steps above)

Go to the previous screen and select ‘End Session’ to exit.
