Engine Tachometer Signal (Push-to-Start)

YOU MUST CONNECT ENGINE TACH SIGNAL FOR PROPER FUNCTIONALITY

Engine Tachometer Signal can be found at multiple points in the vehicle.

True Engine Signal

True Engine Tachometer Signal can be generally found at a coil, fuel injector, or crank position sensor. Verify engine signal with a multi-meter in the AC Voltage setting.

Generated Signal

Generated Signals can generally be found and factory Body Control Modules or cars with replacement motors may have a Tach Status Generator. Verify generated signals with a multi-meter in the DC Voltage Setting. (6v-14.4v)

Classic Cars with True Engine Signal

Connect the Orange wire directly to an engine coil (low voltage side) or fuel injector.

  • Locate engine coil or fuel injector.
  • Measure AC Voltage using a standard multimeter.
  • If Voltage AC Measurement is done on the multimeter and it’s higher than 12V. Or if using oscilloscope amplitude of the signal is higher than 20V.
  • Connect the Orange wire directly to an engine coil (low voltage side) or fuel injector.

Cars with Tach Generators

Remove the Gray wire from the 2-Pin Connector, and connect directly to Tach Generator Signal.

  • Locate Tach Generator or data module (Example: ADS-ALCA) with a status output.
  • Measure DC Voltage using a standard multimeter. Signal needs to be between 6v and 14.4v.
  • Cut the Gray wire or remove it from the 2-pin connector. Isolate the unused section of wire.
  • Connect the Gray wire directly to an engine coil or fuel injector.
